A religion that does not unite people, inspire human
welfare, or transform society into a better one is merely a form of Adharma.
Recently, some organized individuals have been using religion as a tool to
spread religious fanaticism among peace-loving people, creating divisions among
them.
As a result, development has been hindered. Instead of
addressing employment, food, and healthcare, people are being fed the opium of
religion, which intoxicates them to harm one another. Religious aggression has
intensified to the point where people's soft skills are being eroded, and
instead of focusing on constructive activities, temples and mosques are
becoming centers of controversy in our country.
What's even more surprising is that some opportunistic
intellectuals have joined this exploitation for their own gain, while
throughout history, I have seen sensible individuals vehemently protest against
this in their literature, plays, films, poems, and stories.
This is the work of artists and creators, like the great
dramatist, director, and actor Utpal Dutt. In line with contemporary writings,
the play "Janatar Aphim" is also a protest for human welfare. This is
why he is considered the greatest of all time.
Written before the Babri Masjid controversy in the early
nineties, this play remains equally relevant today. While editing, I have tried
to highlight the main biography, "How is the location of the temple under
the mosque coming out in the controversy, the data obtained from his research,
broken temple means that Muslims have broken, the data does not say this, but
many Hindu kings have done it once, they have broken Buddhist temples, some
Shaivas have destroyed Vishnu's temples and vice versa."
The drama also shows people trying to kill their own people, and trying to instigate riots by blaming another religion. But one scene shows that the majority will always protect the minority. This principle should be the principle of people of all religions.
If the media serves only as entertainment, its impact on
society is negligible. As a director and editor, I believe it is the
responsibility of every artist and art medium to speak out against this.
